Details
As the director of the Iklaina Archaeological Project, Dr. Cosmopoulos oversees the excavation of the ancient Mycenaean palace of Iklaina of Pylos, one of the ancient kingdoms involved in the Trojan War as depicted by Homer in The Iliad. Recently, the excavation uncovered what is considered to be the earliest written bureaucratic record in Europe. Dr. Cosmopoulos is a Professor of Greek History and Archaeology and is The Hellenic Government-Karakas Foundation Chair of Greek Studies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
