Certified Nurse Assistant Challenge Exam (101-75)

The CNA Challenge Exam is available to qualified students who receive approval from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS). Students must have a Permission to Challenge letter before registering to test through St. Charles Community College. Contact information for DHSS is 573-526-5686.

Permission to Challenge letters are good for four months from the date on the letter. Students should register for the exam as soon as possible after receiving their approval letter in order to guarantee testing within the time frame. The exam is typically administered about 4-6 weeks from the date registration is processed.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be approved to test through DHSS and have a current Permission to Challenge letter.
  • Must provide results from an acceptable background screening from the Family Care Safety Registry (dated within the last 90 days). View the PDF for more information on this requirement.
  • Be free from tuberculosis and provide documentation of a negative 2-step TB test or "result of findings" from a chest x-ray (dated within the last 12 months). See the PDF for more information on this requirement.

This is a non-credit, certificate exam. Fee is due at time of registration and is non-refundable and non-transferable.
