Professional Medical Coding & Billing (MCDG 100)

This online program for Professional Medical Coding & Billing is a comprehensive curriculum designed to train individuals for entry-level certification and employment as medical coders in hospitals, clinics, physician offices and coding companies.

Students learn healthcare information management, reimbursement methodologies, medical terminology, anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology, among other topics, as well as studying the ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS code sets in an extensive practical section, which gives them valuable hands-on experience before graduation. In addition to one-on-one support from experienced instructors throughout the course and access to personalized graduate support after graduation, students receive textbooks, a complete set of industry code books, and access to an online reference library.

The content is available for one calendar year from the date of activation and can be completed by the average student in 12-15 hours/week.

Upon completion of the program the student will be given a voucher to take the CCA (offered through AHIMA) or the CPC (offered through AAPC) national certification exam. National certification is issued by third-party organizations and industry governing bodies. Additional information on these certifications can be found by contacting these agencies. The certification exams are not offered through St. Charles Community College.
