We can’t thank our supporters enough for their contributions to the St. Charles Community College Foundation’s scholarship program and for making this dream of a college education a reality.

Congrats to the class of 2018! More than 30 students graduating this year received a scholarship from the SCC Foundation. Meet a few:

Eva & Amy
These sisters went through SCC’s nursing program together, and both graduated with an Associate of Science in Nursing. Eva (left) is pursuing a position as a labor and delivery nurse and Amy is pursuing a position as nurse for medical surgical telemetry. Although they may work in different areas, both are proud to be following in the footsteps of their mother, who also is a nurse. Both are planning to transfer to Central Methodist University to begin working on a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

“Thank you so much for helping me to continue my education,” Eva said. “I would give you a hug if I could.”

Josh
Josh earned an associate degree and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Josh was able to find a great job in IT while attending SCC. He plans to continue with his current position and to transfer to the University of Missouri-St. Louis to get a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

“If not for the scholarship, I wouldn’t have been able to start college when I did,” Josh said. “The scholarship provided motivation for me to perform the best that I can.”

The SCC Foundation awards nearly $85,000 in academic and book scholarships to motivated individuals in need of support and encouragement. Learn more about SCC Foundation and the scholarship program.

Steven Thomas
2018 Distinguished Alumnus
At SCC’s 2018 commencement ceremony, the Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Steven Thomas, a decorated military veteran of the United States Navy and director of advanced systems and manager of business development for Ball Aerospace and Technologies in St. Louis.

“SCC allowed me not only to change my career path, but also to make the most of the college experience so that I was better-suited for success in my career,” Steven said.

Graduates gathered to celebrate their achievements at St. Charles Community College on May 12 for the college’s 30th annual commencement exercises.
