Trunktoberfest and Food Truck Frolic events are a success
Published: 10/24/2017
Students and community members came together for a good cause
Thank you to everyone who celebrated Halloween a little early with us this year at our first-ever Trunktoberfest event on Oct. 7.
The event brought a family-friendly finale to the 2017 Food Truck Frolic and Family Movie Night series. Proceeds benefit both the SCC Foundation, supporting much-needed scholarships as well as academic and program enhancements for the college, and the Cottleville-Weldon Spring Chamber of Commerce.
SCC students from several organizations across campus decorated their trunks and joined sponsors and vendors from our community during the free evening event. Activities included trick-or-treating, kid-friendly games and the film, “Hocus Pocus.”
The Food Truck Frolic and Family Movie Night events are a team effort made possible by volunteers and staff from SCC Student Activities, the SCC Foundation and the Cottleville-Weldon Spring Chamber of Commerce.
Five events were held in 2017, each with food trucks, vendors, and a family movie beginning at dusk. Trunktoberfest served as a makeup event for CHOMP, which was cancelled in May due to severe weather.
Premier sponsors were BJC, Mercy, State Farm (Lew Fruend, Hank Wiese & Tom Wootten) and UMB Bank. Foodie Sponsors were Krey Distributing Co. Community Sponsors were Acropolis Investment Management, Ameren Missouri, Bauer Orthodontics, Breeze Park LSS, Commerce Bank, Enterprise Rent-A-Car/Enterprise Holdings Foundation, First Community Credit Union, Great Southern Bank, NHC – National Healthcare Corporation, UPS and Vantage Credit Union. Tailgate Sponsors were Enterprise Bank & Trust, Floyd Glass & Window and Lucas Calcari – Farmers Insurance.
The Cottleville-Weldon Spring Chamber of Commerce is a small but powerful business organization in St. Charles County, open to all businesses, including those outside of the immediate area that see a benefit in networking, being active in the community and supporting each other in a way that helps each of us to grow our business and develop professionally.
The St. Charles Community College Foundation, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, enhances learning environments for thousands of students each year through scholarship awards, academic and program enhancements as well as community outreach.
