Students and community members came together for a good cause

Thank you to everyone who celebrated Halloween a little early with us this year at our first-ever Trunktoberfest event on Oct. 7.

The event brought a family-friendly finale to the 2017 Food Truck Frolic and Family Movie Night series. Proceeds benefit both the SCC Foundation, supporting much-needed scholarships as well as academic and program enhancements for the college, and the Cottleville-Weldon Spring Chamber of Commerce.

SCC students from several organizations across campus decorated their trunks and joined sponsors and vendors from our community during the free evening event. Activities included trick-or-treating, kid-friendly games and the film, “Hocus Pocus.”

The Food Truck Frolic and Family Movie Night events are a team effort made possible by volunteers and staff from SCC Student Activities, the SCC Foundation and the Cottleville-Weldon Spring Chamber of Commerce.

Five events were held in 2017, each with food trucks, vendors, and a family movie beginning at dusk. Trunktoberfest served as a makeup event for CHOMP, which was cancelled in May due to severe weather.

Premier sponsors were BJCMercyState Farm (Lew FruendHank Wiese & Tom Wootten) and UMB Bank. Foodie Sponsors were Krey Distributing Co. Community Sponsors were Acropolis Investment ManagementAmeren MissouriBauer OrthodonticsBreeze Park LSSCommerce BankEnterprise Rent-A-Car/Enterprise Holdings Foundation, First Community Credit UnionGreat Southern BankNHC – National Healthcare CorporationUPS and Vantage Credit Union. The St. Charles Community College Foundation, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, enhances learning environments for thousands of students each year through scholarship awards, academic and program enhancements as well as community outreach.
