Continuing Education (Non-Credit) Courses

The mission of the Division of Corporate and Community Development is to provide a one-stop resource for lifelong learning.  We do this by offering non-credit courses, events and training sessions that benefit all age groups throughout our community.  These offerings service the individual as well as businesses in St. Charles, Pike, Lincoln, Callaway and Montgomery counties. Listed below are the various programs offered by the division.

Continuing Education

The Continuing Education Department provides lifelong learning opportunities for children and adults through courses in personal development, career development, youth and senior interests, recreation, arts and much more. Register for classes online.

Workforce Development (WFD)

The Workforce Development Department works to develop a well-equipped workforce in the college’s service area.  WFD partners with public and private entities to offer resources to employers, employees and schools.

Business and Industry

The Business and Industry Program works with local companies to identify job skills and training needs for thousands of workers and employers in St. Charles County.  Once those needs are identified, we can provide training that is cost effective while achieving desired results.

Missouri Dislocated Worker Program

The Missouri Dislocated Worker Program is a federally funded program that provides professional job search assistance to job seekers in St. Charles County. The program is part of the Workforce Investment Act serving individuals who have been displaced from their jobs and are unlikely to find employment in their previous occupation.

School-Business Programs

The St. Charles County Alliance for Business, Learning and Education (ABLE) consists of educators and business leaders who want to make a difference in the lives of young people through programs that focus on career development, career exploration and career readiness. We provide teacher training, middle and high school career education opportunities and hands-on projects.

Adult Education and Literacy

St. Charles Community College coordinates a four-county program (St. Charles, Warren, Lincoln and Pike) to teach basic reading, math and writing skills, to prepare people to take the HiSET exam and to assist non-native speakers in gaining English proficiency.

English Language Acquisition (ELA; formerly ESL)

Free English Language Acquisition (ELA; formerly ESL) classes for non-native speakers are available for all proficiency levels. These classes help beginning, intermediate and advanced students improve English skills in reading, writing, speaking and understanding (listening). The classes are directed at improving English conversational skills for home and workplace literacy.

High School Equivalency Preparation and Testing (HiSET)

Passing the HiSET is the process of earning the equivalent of your high school diploma. Classes provide preparation for the HiSET as well as basic instruction in reading, writing and math. Passing the HiSET and being awarded an equivalency certificate is a reason to celebrate and opens many doors.

Computers for Schools

The Computers for Schools Program was started at the Northeast Correctional Center in November 1998.  Through this program, computers donated by various companies and individuals are refurbished and distributed to over 35 school districts throughout the state of Missouri.  Over 2,200 computers and 350 printers have been distributed to public schools through this program since its inception.

Health Occupations

The Health Occupations Program at SCC offers a wide variety of courses in different areas of the health care industry. The program is dedicated to providing life-changing educational opportunities focused on students' personal and professional growth. Successful completion of a Health Occupations Program at SCC will lead to a certificate and, in some courses, eligibility to sit for state or national certification exams. Certification qualifies graduates for entry-level practice in a variety of workplace settings.
