The Cisco Networking Academy, Microsoft Academy, A+, UNIX/Linux, Virtualization Technologies, Certified Ethical Hacking and Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator classes prepare you for the corporate workplace and industry certifications.
St. Charles Community College has partnered with EC-Council to work together to train IT professionals. CPC 162: Ethical Hacking and CPC 161: Computer Forensics prepare and authorize students to take the C|EH or C|HFI certification exams. These highly valued certification exams and classes teach students the offensive skills used by hackers to gain unauthorized entry into a network, and how to gather evidence of such attacks. A prerequisite class to both of these is CPC 160: Security Fundamentals which helps to prepare students for the CompTIA Security+ exam.
One of today's hottest trends in IT is the use of virtualization. Companies are virtualizing their data centers, desktops and applications and are creating cloud infrastructures. CPC 290: Virtualization Technologies is an introduction to virtualization technologies with a focus on VMware solutions.

You'll learn the fundamentals of networking, routing and switching in our state-of-the-art lab by working on real equipment. The Academy prepares you for industry certifications like CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician) CCNA Routing and Switching (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) and CCNA specialty certifications for Security, Wireless and Voice.

Our Microsoft program prepares students for a job as a network administrator, network engineer, end-user support specialist or help desk technician. In addition, our training will help to prepare you for industry certifications like MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate), MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) and MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional).
Students in our Microsoft program utilize virtual machines for use in hands-on training. Training includes installing a Windows desktop operating system along with Server and Active Directory. The focus of the program will depend on current corporate demands. SCC's training is hands-on to better prepare you for the job market.
Learn how to take your computer apart for upgrades or repairs, as well as troubleshooting techniques. You'll learn about the inside of a computer – the CPU, memory, motherboards, hard drives, video cards and expansion slots. You'll learn how to install various operating systems, how to build a system from scratch and how to rebuild an existing system. We focus on hands-on skills, along with concepts to better prepare you for the job market. This class helps students prepare for the CompTIA A+ certification exams.
SCC's UNIX/Linux classes will teach a student how to administer UNIX/Linux in a corporate network environment. The Intro to UNIX/Linux class assumes that a student does not know anything about UNIX/Linux. Students learn the basics of the UNIX/Linux operating system and then continue with a focus on administering UNIX/Linux within a corporate network.
The four-year program of your choice always has the final say. SCC students find, however, that general education credits transfer quite successfully. The courses specific to this SCC degree/certificate may be transferable as well as electives.
