SCC's McDorman Named 2010-11 President of National Council for Marketing and Public Relations

NCMPR is an affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges

As NCMPR president, McDorman will chair the executive committee, will present at the AACC convention in April in Seattle, and will prepare the program for the 2011 NCMPR national conference in Philadelphia.

McDorman, of Wentzville, Mo., directs SCC’s marketing and communications department, including public relations, publications, graphic design and marketing, as well as the college’s Web site and information desk. She has been at SCC since 1989, all in the college’s marketing department. McDorman has a master’s degree in communications from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Truman State University in 
Kirksville, Mo.

The NCMPR executive officers were announced at the 2010 national conference in Albuquerque, N.M. in March. In addition to McDorman, the following community college leaders were named executive officers:

  • Vice President/President-Elect – Kyle Schwarm, executive director, statewide marketing, Wisconsin Technical College System, Wis.
  • Secretary – Sally Chapman Cameron, vice president for college communications, Bristol Community College, Mass.
  • Treasurer – Andrea Hanstein, public information officer, Fullerton College, Calif.
  • Immediate Past President – Judith Sciple, assistant to the campus director, Delaware Technical and Community College, Jack F. Owens Campus, Del.
  • Past President – Melinda Eddleman, media relations coordinator, Del Mar College, Texas

The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations is a professional organization for individuals involved in marketing, communications, public relations and enrollment management at community, junior and technical colleges.
