St. Charles Community College is seeking a full-time Human Resources Assistant who will administer an array of direct HR services and provides administrative support to the Director of Human Resources and VP HR.

Other duties:

  • Enters all staff training data into the HRIS and Excel.
  • Responsible for all coordination of training programs, webinars, and open houses, including setup of rooms, catering, and other preparation for training classes.
  • Responsible for entire STEP awards process including creating and distributing certificates.
  • Greets visitors, answers telephone, provides information, and responds to various requests to provide quality customer service.
  • Assists HR Coordinator with HRIS, processing payroll paperwork, service recognition, mailings, documents, and custom reports.
  • Creates and revises job descriptions, job families, and performance evaluations as authorized by Director of Human Resources.
  • Administers the performance evaluation process, ensuring follow up with managers, data entry of scores, and timely filing in the personnel files.
  • Creates and maintains personnel files and term files.
  • Assists VP HR and Director of Human Resources with clerical functions such as creating documents, maintaining office file system, and making photocopies as needed.
  • Responsible for HR Connection including research, written content, and trivia contest.
  • Administers tuition reimbursement and tuition waiver programs.
  • Responsible for COBRA administration, as well as assisting with benefits filing, and photocopies.
  • Maintains online directory.
  • Sorts, opens, and distributes mail.
  • Administers HR Record Retention practices for personnel files and for L&D.
  • Orders department supplies.
  • Supervises student assistant(s).


Associate’s degree or equivalent knowledge and experience. Skills in greeting the public, answering telephones, filing, and word processing.
