SCC supports STEM movement with Girl Power: LEGO Robotics Engineering camp

Published: 07/08/2015

This innovative camp inspired girls to discover challenges that make robotics technology accessible using problem-solving techniques and new EV3 Lego Robotic Engineering Kits. The kits are the latest in technology and programming education.

Camp-goers created robots using computer programming, simple and complex machine principles, gearing and creativity. The girls also learned about careers in science, robotics and engineering.

“With a lack of women currently working in STEM-related fields, this camp gave girls hands-on, real-world problem-solving experience,” said Amy Fitzwilliam, SCC program specialist. “They became very excited to explore STEM careers in the future.”

This camp was made possible due to funding from Missouri Department of Education and Secondary Education.

In addition to summer camps, College for All Kids offers many STEM-related camps and programs for children ages 5-15 throughout the year.
