A: You will need your Student ID number to activate your account. You can find your Student ID on your SCC Picture ID or in the upper left corner of any reciept from the cashier. How to retrieve your new login ID:
Q: Are there any rules for creating my password? A: Yes, there are a number of rules or criteria for creating an SCC password. SCC establishes this set of criteria for security purposes, to keep others from potentially discovering your password. You will find the following criteria also noted when you activate your login.
Q: What is the difference between my student ID number and my login ID? A: Your student ID number is the seven-digit number that was assigned to you when you first enrolled at SCC. If you have an SCC picture ID, you will find it at the top right corner of your ID. You will also find your student ID number at the top left corner of your course schedule, just above your name. Your new login ID, along with your password, will enable you to log in to online services such as SCC Connection and WebCT. The format of your new login ID will be your first name initial, your last name initial, and a random six-digit number. Ex. Jane Doe’s login ID: jd123456 Q: I don’t currently use any of SCC’s online services. How will this change affect me? A: It may encourage you to take advantage of the convenience of our online services! While students are not required to register or pay online, they must log onto SCC Connection to access their grades. Because SCC no longer mails grades to students’ homes, you must now login to SCC Connection to find out how you did! Also, some instructors use WebCT course management software to conduct class activities online. If you wish to take distance learning courses, or you are taking a traditional classroom course that has a WebCT component, you will need to use your new single login ID to access the course. Wireless Web access will be available early in the spring 2007 semester. You will need your new login ID for wireless Web access as well. Watch for more on the availability of wi-fi. Finally, within the next several months, you will also receive an SCC e-mail address. SCC will send important news you need to know about policies and procedures, registration and payment deadlines, and campus activities to this campus-assigned address. Your new login will give you access to your e-mailbox and important SCC news. Q: What if I forget my password? A: When you set your password the first time, you will answer a number of personal questions that will serve as hints if you forget your password. Only you will know the answer to these questions so that no one else will be able to guess your password. (Of course, it’s important not to share these answers with others!) Q: Does my new login ID work with all online services? A: No. Your new login ID and password will allow you to access SCC Connection, WebCT, and future services such as wireless Web access and e-mail. The following SCC online services require other login criteria: ConnectEdu for transfer students, Career Central Network for student employment search, MOBIUS network/library services, online tuition payment through the FACTS plan, and online purchases through the SCC Bookstore. Q: What if I have problems getting my new ID? Who can I call? A: The SCC Student Help Desk is available to help students use online services. Call 636-922-8555 or e-mail SCCHelpDesk@stchas.edu. Q: Can students obtain their new login
and password in person at the college rather than using the Web? I’m
concerned about giving any personal information over the Internet. |
