How
much does counseling cost?
Short-term counseling services are free to all students.
Can
I get medication?
The SCC counselor is not a psychiatrist and cannot prescribe medications.
She can refer you to an off-campus psychiatrist if you feel the need
to see a psychiatrist. Please note that SCC does not pay for these psychiatric
services; however, the counselor will discuss with you treatment options
within your financial limits.
How
long is a counseling session?
Each session typically lasts about 50 minutes. Shorter sessions are available
for those who want to simply explore the possibility of counseling.
How
long do people stay in counseling?
The college offers short-term, solution-focused therapy. You may want
one session or several sessions. You may want to come weekly, or may
want some other schedule, depending on your circumstances and issues.
The counselor will work out with you the available arrangement that best
meets your needs. |
