First Alert

The First Alert Program has a remarkable success rate – every year, 73 to 75% of the students enrolled pass the courses for which they sought help.  In light of the fact that these students were in danger of failing these courses, we are very proud of this achievement and urge students to take advantage of the help offered by the program.

This program provides early intervention to help students who are having difficulties in the first few weeks of classes. Students may be referred by their counselors, instructors, or by the ACE staff. A staff member offers one-on-one tutoring, referral to other assistance or study aids, tracking of student progress, and liaison with students' instructors.

Chris Van Mierlo is the contact person for all subjects except Math and Science. Karen George is the contact person for Math. Science students can recieve help through our regular science tutoring assistance. For information about First Alert, and to make an appointment, call 636-922-8444.
