Apply for Loans Online

How to Apply for a Loan:

Students:  We recommend that you print these instructions (there are 5 steps) to ensure you have all documents to complete your file.  Incomplete files will delay processing!

Please follow the steps below:

Step 1: 

• You must have already completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and received your results prior to applying for a loan. SCC will have your results on file electronically if you have included our school code of 017027 on your application.
  
  

Step 2:  

Complete St. Charles Community College's Loan Data Sheet .

• Print, complete, and return the Loan Data Sheet .
  
  

Step 3: 

Stafford Entrance Counseling (If you are a repeat borrower at SCC you may skip this step)

• http://www.mapping-your-future.org/
• Click on "Student Loan Counseling Interview".
• Click on "Stafford Entrance".
• Complete all questions asked in the interview.
• SCC will be able to access your Entrance Counseling confirmation electronically from "Mapping-Your-Future." Please print a copy of the confirmation page for your own records.
  
  

Step 4: 

Apply for the Federal Stafford Loan (If you are a repeat borrower at SCC you may skip this step.)

Before you begin the online application process, you will need the following documentation:

• Borrower’s social security number and drivers license number.
• Two references: (complete information).
  • Name
  • Address
  • City
  • State
  • Zip
  • Phone Number
  • Relationship to Borrower

Select a lender.

Last Dates to submit loan applications are:

• Fall 2008 - December 1, 2008
• Spring 2009 - April 10, 2009

Step 5:  

Return the loan data sheet to the Financial Assistance Office, Administration Building Room 1115, after you have completed all of the steps above, as well as applied for the loan online.
