Financial Assistance - Miscellaneous Other TypesMiscellaneous Other Types of Financial Assistance
The educational assistance program administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) under which a potentially eligible veteran and/or serviceperson may be entitled is largely dependent on when the person served on active duty. DVA administers 11 educational assistance programs, and the basic eligibility criteria may vary from one to another. Generally, only the DVA can determine an applicant's eligibility for educational assistance. In some instances, DVA will rely on the military to make the eligibility determination. It is most important to identify under what program a student may qualify, as the types of benefits payable will vary as well as the courses or programs of education that may be certified to DVA. For more information about this benefit, contact Cassandra Samson, Veterans Certifying Official, Financial Assistance Office, Administration Building Room 1115, 636-922-8578 or e-mail at csamson@stchas.edu. Americorps is a nationwide program, open to Americans of all ages to help communities in need. The amount of your award will be determined by your "term of service," and you can earn up to two awards for educational purposes. Students who may be interested in becoming Americorps members may call 800-942-2677. Financial
