How to Apply for Financial Assistance:

Before You Begin

1. Gather all the necessary information you'll need to apply for financial assistance. You can find a list of the necessary documents on the FAFSA site.
2. Obtain pin number at www.pin.ed.gov .
   • This will serve as a signature when completing the FAFSA.
   • Allow 1-3 days to receive pin number.

Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

• Apply for financial aid www.fafsa.ed.gov.
• Allow approximately two weeks for processing.
• Check status of submitted FAFSA www.fafsa.ed.gov/follow003.htm.
• Print copies of all pages for your own records.
• Print confirmation or Student Aid Report (SAR) at www.fafsa.ed.gov/follow006.htm. 
• Apply for a student loan.

Renewing Your Financial Aid

• You must complete a FAFSA each year.  The money you receive is not automatically renewable.
• You should apply for financial assistance, for the upcoming school year, as soon as you have completed your income tax forms from the previous year. 
• If attending Fall/Spring semester, application deadline is July 1.
• If attending Spring semester only, application deadline is November 1.
• Those students who do not have a high school diploma or GED certificate will be required to take an additional test for Ability to Benefit purposes.
• High school students are not eligible for financial assistance.
