Preamble

We, the student nurses of St. Charles Community College, hereby form the Student Nurse Organization.  Through this organization, we shall endeavor to promote, educate, and support healthcare issues and concerns within our college community and local community.  With this ideal, we do hereby authorize and establish this Constitution of the Student Nurse Organization of St. Charles Community College.

Article I:  Name

The name of this organization shall be the Student Nurse Organization and hereafter shall be referred to as SNO.

Article II:  Purpose

The Purpose of SNO shall include the following:

• Provide peer support for fellow students regarding education and community involvement
• Support health needs in the college community and the community at large
• Provide social interaction for student nurses
• Promote political healthcare awareness in our community
• Promote ongoing nursing education outside of the classroom
• Facilitate communication between student nurses and the nursing faculty

Article III:  Membership

Section 1:  SNO membership is open to all current nursing students at St. Charles Community College.

Section 2:  SNO shall not discriminate based upon race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex/gender, marital status, age, handicap, disability or status as a disabled veteran, veteran of the Vietnam Era, or sexual orientation.
