CENTER STAGE THEATRE TO PRESENT “A RAISIN IN THE SUN”
MARCH 3-7 AT SCC

The Center Stage Theatre of St. Charles Community College will present the classic play “A Raisin in the Sun” March 3-7 in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building theater on the SCC campus.
 
The show will be performed at 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, March 3-6, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 7. There will be a high school matinee performance at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 4.
 
“A Raisin in the Sun” shows the tragic impact of American history on a black family residing in Chicago in the 1950s. “A Raisin in the Sun” won the New York Drama Critics’ Award as the Best American Play of 1959 and was the first play by an African-American female playwright to open on Broadway.
 
The play is based on the book by Lorraine Hansberry and will be directed by Hal Berry, SCC professor of history and theater.
 
Cast members include: Janai Humphrey as Ruth Younger, Donevan Clark as Travis Younger, Ethan Jones as Walter Lee Younger, Selena Steed as Beneatha Younger, Teresa Kindle as Lena Younger (Mama), Theo Lipsey as Joseph Asagai, Jordan Laeffelman as George Murchison, Gold Wise as Bobo, Thomas Stanley as Karl Lindner, Michael Anthony as Moving Man, Martini Haynes as Moving Man and David Malone as Moving Man.
