SCC FOUNDATION AWARDS $65,500 IN SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS

The St. Charles Community College Foundation has awarded $65,500 in scholarship money to students currently enrolled in spring classes at the college.  Several businesses and community organizations have also established scholarships to assist SCC students with college expenses.

"The SCC Foundation is very pleased to be able to provide these scholarships for the spring semester,” said Edie Kirk, executive director of the SCC Foundation.  “The Foundation is also thankful to the businesses and individuals who partner with us to award scholarship funding to SCC students.  For many students, scholarships make the difference between attending college or not, or having the resources to enroll for three or four courses instead of one or two.  Our Scholarship Committee reviewed many applications, and knowing that our funds help these students achieve their goals is a great feeling."

The SCC Foundation spring 2008 scholarship recipients are: Shae Morgan of O’Fallon, Jessica Dwyer of O’Fallon, Laurie Evans-Schoenecker of O’Fallon, Sara McCune of O’Fallon, Aimee Jewkes of O’Fallon, Amanda French of O’Fallon, Zyra De Los Reyes of St. Charles, Mike McNamara of St. Charles, Shantell Behnke of St. Peters, Cassy Miller of St. Peters, Daniella Soriano of St. Peters, Kimberly VanCamp of Lake Saint Louis, Stephanie Jones of Wentzville, Rebecca Mertens of Warrenton, and Twila Johnson of Bowling Green.

GM-Wentzville awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Brittany Jeffs of O’Fallon.  The Pickett, Ray, and Silver Scholarship awarded two scholarships to Kristen Winkler of Wentzville and Melissa Merideth of St. Peters in the amount of $500 each.  The Florence Killian Memorial Scholarship Fund awarded $250 to Stephanie Jones of Wentzville.

The St. Charles Community College Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization, whose mission is to improve the quality of life in our community by securing resources to strengthen the educational and cultural opportunities available through St. Charles Community College.  There are 30 members currently serving on the Foundation Board.  For more information about the SCC Foundation, visit the Web site at www.stchas.edu/foundation.
