SCC TO PRESENT FACULTY OBOE RECITAL ON APRIL 2

St. Charles Community College professor of music John L. Walker will perform an oboe recital at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in the theater of the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building on the SCC campus.  Admission is free and the program is open to the public.
 
Walker will perform alongside SCC adjunct professors Rekha Dravina, Catherine Murray, and Erin Haupt.
 
The recital will include works by Johann Sebastian Bach, William Blezard, and Charles Koechlin, as well as the premiere performance of a work for mezzo soprano, oboe d’amore, and piano composed by Walker. Oboe d’amore is one of the most rarely heard members of the oboe family.  
 
Prior to becoming a faculty member at SCC, Walker held many professional positions, including principal oboe of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Guadalajara, the USAF Heritage of America Band, and the Orquesta Sinfonica del Ecuador. Walker has also served on the music faculty of the National Conservatory of Ecuador.
