RYAN ROBERTSON APPOINTED TO SCC BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Ryan Robertson has become the newest member of the St. Charles Community College Board of Trustees.   He was sworn in at the March 17 Board meeting.

Robertson was appointed to fill the seat of Daniel J. Conoyer, who died Dec. 17.  He will serve out Conoyer’s unexpired term that ends in April 2010.

Robertson, of O’Fallon, is a regional marketing director for the Hartford Mutual Funds.  He is a Licensed Registered Representative, an agent licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell securities. He received a Bachelor
of Science degree in business administration at Kansas in 1999.

A native of Missouri, Robertson was a standout basketball player for the 1995 St. Charles West High School state champions.  He went on to play collegiate basketball at the University of Kansas where he was a member of three conference and Big 12 Tournament championship teams.  Following graduation, Robertson was drafted in the second round of the National Basketball Association by the Sacramento Kings where he played in 1999-2000.  He continued his professional basketball career with stints in the American Basketball Association for Kansas City (2000-2001), and for Holland (2001- 2004) and France and Greece (2004-2005).  

Throughout his high school and collegiate career, Robertson was the recipient of several academic and athletic awards including an Academic All-American (1999), McDonald’s High School All-American (1995), and USA Today Missouri Player of the Year (1994, 1995).

"As a resident of St. Charles County for more than 20 years, it is important to me that we have a viable and well respected community college that is accessible to everyone,” Robertson said.  “I look forward to working with the existing board members and finding ways in which I can become an asset to the college.  I am both honored and thrilled to be on the Board of Trustees and hope to help students of this community reach their personal and educational goals.”

Robertson and his wife, Andrea, are the parents of a daughter and son, Kylie and JD.

The six members of the Board of Trustees of St. Charles Community College are elected citizens who serve without pay. The board is charged with the duty of fostering and maintaining the overall welfare of the college as well as approving the annual budget and expenditures of funds.
