SCC TO HOLD OPEN AUDITIONS FOR TWO ONE-ACT PLAYS

St. Charles Community College’s Center Stage Theatre is looking for six male and two female actors for roles in the upcoming production of two one-act plays, “The Room” and “The Dumb Waiter.”

Written by Harold Pinter, “The Room” and “The Dumb Waiter” are brief excursions into the nightmare world of insecurity and uncertainty.  In “The Room,” a husband, wife, and their visitors contribute to a shocking act of violence.  “The Dumb Waiter” is a mysterious, suspenseful story about two professional killers awaiting an assignment.

“These plays make one stir uneasily in one’s shoes, and doubt, for a moment, the comforting solidity of the earth and the reality that we have come to know,” director Patrick Vaughn said.

Open auditions will be held from 1-3 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 28 and 29, in the theater of the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building.  People of all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to audition.
Performances of “The Room” and “The Dumb Waiter” will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, April 23-26, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27.
