SOCIAL DANCE CLASSES BEGIN JAN. 20 AT SCC

Weddings, class reunions, or just a night on the town – you could be the dancing couple everyone has their eyes on.  Learn the step-by-step instructions to today’s dance floor moves in fun-filled classes this spring at St. Charles Community College.

The eight-week classes will be in the dance studio at the College Center on the SCC campus,
4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville.  Classes will be held during two different sessions: Spring I from Jan. 20-March 9 and Spring II from April 7 to June 8.

Award-winning dance instructors Linda Landwehr and Stan Mayer are former professional champion dancers with more than 25 years experience in dance competition and instruction.  “They have been instrumental in establishing standards for many local dance clubs and support
organizations.  We’re lucky to have such an experienced team at the college,” said Nancy Pittman, associate dean of continuing education.

Dance instruction is available in various dance forms, including foxtrot, waltz, rumba, swing, tango, and jitterbug for all skill levels, ages 14 and up.  The spacious dance studio has a floating wood dance floor, mirrors, and air conditioning.

Registration is $44 per person. The following eight-week social dance classes are available:

Session I:  Jan. 20-March 29

• Sundays, Jan. 20-March 9:  Ballroom II – Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Swing (DAN 109-42) will be held 11:50 a.m.-12:50 p.m.; Ballroom I – Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Swing (DAN 107-42) will be held 12:55-1:55 p.m.; Imperial Swing Basic I (DAN 105-42) will be held 2-3 p.m.; Imperial Swing Basic II (DAN 106-42) will be held 3:05-4:05 p.m.; Imperial Swing Basic III – Lindy (DAN-104-41) will be held 4:10-5:10 p.m.; and West Coast Swing (DAN 131-41) will be held 5:15-6:15 p.m.

• Mondays, Jan. 28-March 29:  Jitterbug II – Swing, Shag, Lindy Hop (DAN-137-40) will be held 5:50-6:50 p.m.; Ballroom I – Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Swing (DAN-107-40) will be held 6:55-7:55 p.m.; Ballroom III – Tango I (DAN-141-40) will be held 8-9 p.m; and Ballroom II – Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Swing (DAN-109-40) will be held 9:05-10:05 p.m.

• Tuesdays, Jan. 22-March 11:  Imperial Swing Basic I (DAN-105-40) will be held 6:55-7:55 p.m.; Imperial Swing Basic II (DAN-106-40) will be held 8-9 p.m.; and Ballroom III – Night Club Two Step I (DAN-123-40) will be held 9:05-10:05 p.m.           

• Wednesdays, Jan. 23-March 12:  West Coast Swing I (DAN-131-40) will be held 5:50-6:50 p.m.; Ballroom I – Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Swing (DAN-107-41) will be held 6:55-7:55 p.m.; Ballroom II – Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Swing (DAN-109-41) will be held 8-9 p.m.; Ballroom III – Waltz I (DAN-144-40) will be held 9:05-10:05 p.m.

• Thursdays, Jan. 24-March 13:  Imperial Swing Basic I (DAN 105-41) will be held 6:55-
7:55 p.m.; Imperial Swing Basic II (DAN 106-41) will be held 8-9 p.m.; and Imperial Swing Basic III (DAN 104-40) will be held 9:05-10:05 p.m.  

Session II:  April 7-June 8

• Sundays, April 13-June 8:  Ballroom II ­– Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Swing (DAN 109-52) will be held 11:50 a.m.-12:50 p.m.; Ballroom I  – Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Swing (DAN 107-52) will be held 12:55-1:55 p.m.; Imperial Swing Basic I (DAN 105-52) will be held 2-3 p.m.; Imperial Swing Basic II (DAN 106-52) will be held 3:05-4:05 p.m.; Imperial Swing Basic III – Lindy (DAN-104-51) will be held 4:10-5:10 p.m.; and West Coast Swing (DAN 131-50) will be held 5:15-6:15 p.m.

• Mondays, April 7-June 2:  Jitterbug I  – Swing, Shag, Lindy Hop (DAN-136-40) will be held 5:50-6:50 p.m.; Ballroom I – Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Swing (DAN-107-50) will be held 6:55-7:55 p.m.; Ballroom III – Tango II (DAN-142-50) will be held 8-9 p.m; and Ballroom II – Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Swing (DAN-109-50) will be held 9:05-10:05 p.m.

• Tuesdays, April 8-May 27:  Imperial Swing Basic I (DAN-105-50) will be held 6:55-7:55 p.m.; Imperial Swing Basic II (DAN-106-50) will be held 8-9 p.m.; and Ballroom III – Mambo-Salsa I (DAN-128-50) will be held 9:05-10:05 p.m.           

• Wednesdays, April 9-May 28 – West Coast Swing II (DAN-111-50) will be held 5:50-6:50 p.m.; Ballroom I – Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Swing (DAN-107-51) will be held 6:55-7:55 p.m,; Ballroom II – Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Swing (DAN-109-51) will be held 8-9 p.m.; Ballroom III – Waltz II (DAN-145-50) will be held 9:05-10:05 p.m.

• Thursdays, April 10-May 29:  Imperial Swing Basic I (DAN 105-51) will be held 6:55-
7:55 p.m.; Imperial Swing Basic II (DAN 106-51) will be held 8-9 p.m.; and Imperial Swing Basic III (DAN 104-50) will be held 9:05-10:05 p.m.
