SCC TO HOST GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS DAY NOV. 14
St. Charles Community College will partner with St. Charles County Government to host a Geographic Information Systems Day from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, on the SCC campus.
GIS Day is an annually held global event that showcases GIS technologies and demonstrates how they impact everyday life. SCC is one of more than 2,000 schools and organizations that will be hosting GIS Day events in more than 80 countries. The free event is open to GIS professionals in the St. Charles County area and any person interested in learning about GIS technologies.
GIS, or geographic information system, is a computer system used for storing, editing, and analyzing geographical information. The technology can be used for several purposes: scientific investigations, map-making, criminology, and many more. The goal of GIS Day is to educate adults and students about the role geographic information systems play in the world around them.
Featured at GIS Day will be informative demonstrations and an extensive and detailed map composition gallery.
The program will be located in the Rotunda of the SCC College Center. The campus is located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville.
