NEWS STORY FORMAT

SCC’S YOUNG PEOPLE’S THEATRE TO CELEBRATE THE
HOLIDAY SEASON WITH “MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET”

The Young People’s Theatre of St. Charles Community College will light up the stage this holiday season with its production of “Miracle on 34th Street.” The show will run Dec. 14-16 in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building theater on the SCC campus.

In this classic Christmas story, Kris Kringle is the personification of good will and holiday spirit. As Macy’s holiday Santa, he is so enchanting to children and shoppers that he is perceived to be dangerous by fellow employees, who plot to ruin him. Things take a turn for the worse and a young girl’s belief in Santa and the magic of the holiday is at stake in a climactic courtroom decision.

“Miracle on 34th Street” is based on the novel by Valentine Davies and adapted by Will Severin, Patricia Di Benedetto Snyder, and John Vreeke. The music is by Will Severin.

The show will start at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Dec. 14-15; and at 2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday,
Dec. 15-16.

Young Peoples’ Theatre is a performing arts program by kids and their families for people of all ages, produced by the SCC Division of Corporate and Community Development.

The campus is located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville. Tickets for the show are $7 for adults and $6 for students, seniors, and children, and can be purchased up to three weeks in advance. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact the SCC Division of Corporate and Community Development at 636-922-8316, or visit the SCC events Web site at www.stchas.edu/events/theaterevent.shtml
