SCC CENTER STAGE THEATRE TO PRESENT
“STEEL MAGNOLIAS” OCT. 3-7

The St. Charles Community College Center Stage Theatre will be opening the 2007-08 season with Robert Harling’s “Steel Magnolias.”

The show will be from Oct. 3-7 in the theater of the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building on the SCC campus.  Performances are at 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Oct. 3-6, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, and a school matinee performance 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4.

Set in Chinquapin, Louisana, the comedy-drama takes place in a local beauty salon and follows Shelby, the prettiest girl in town, through her wedding, pregnancy, illness, and tragic death.  The play demonstrates how friendship, inner strength, and humor help people through the trials of life.                       
The play is being directed by Pamela Cilek, program coordinator of the theater department at SCC. Lonna Wilke will design lights and set for the show, and Deborah Phillips will design costumes.  The stage manager is Anna Jennings and assistant stage manager is Johanna Beck. Both are SCC students.

Members of the cast include Kendra Kaine (O’Fallon) as Shelby, Becky Pasley (St. Peters) as M’Lynne, Candice Stine (O’Fallon) as Truvy, Margaret O’Dea (St. Peters) as Ouiser, Helen Tucker (St. Charles) as Clairee, and Sasha Kline (St. Charles) as Annelle.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and college students with I.D.  To purchase tickets, call the SCC Box Office at 636-922-8050.

St. Charles Community College is located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville.
