UPS FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANT TO SCC FOUNDATION
The UPS Foundation recently awarded $25,000 to the St. Charles Community
College Foundation for several college projects. SCC will use the grant
to
benefit online technology, the GED and English-as-a-Second-Language program,
and the 2007-08 SCC Concert Artist Series.
"UPS has been a long-time supporter of the community college," said
Edie
Kirk, executive director of the Foundation. "For many years, they
have given
our students great opportunities for part-time work and supported many
of
our events. Now, with this grant, they have provided a very generous,
very
substantial gift that will help us fund important projects in the coming
year."
UPS officials presented the check to the SCC Foundation during an appreciation breakfast held at the college in May. UPS officials attending included Ray Bernick, vice president of the Missouri District; Vince Blood, human resources; Mike Tabaka, UPS recruiter; and Eric Henderson, UPS workforce planning manager.
SCC President John McGuire, Julie Bartch, SCC Foundation Board president, and faculty and staff members accepted the grant, expressed appreciation, and shared how it would benefit SCC students and the community.
The mission of the SCC Foundation is to secure private and public funds to benefit the students of St. Charles Community College and to enhance educational and cultural opportunities for the community.
