SCC TO OFFER SUMMER BASKETBALL
AND CHEERLEADING CAMPS

St. Charles Community College will offer basketball and cheerleading camps in June and July at its College Center on campus. The camps will help children in grades 3-8 gain skills and learn fundamentals.

The Hoop Mountain Boys and Girls Basketball Camp, offered for children in grades 3-5, will help teach young basketball players basic skills for team and individual development. Participants will learn about offense (on and off the ball); passing and receiving; defense, including help-side defense and proper defensive position; and rebounding techniques. Players will also scrimmage and participate in skills contests.

The girls¹ camp (CFK-635-40) will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, July 9, to Thursday, July 12. The boys¹ camp (CFK-642-40) will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, July 23, to Thursday, July 26. The cost for each camp is $119 per participant.

For more experienced players, Hoop Mountain will offer a camp for girls in grades 6-8. This camp (CFK-636-40) will stress the same skills and drills but will focus more on skill building. The camp will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, July 16, to Thursday, July 19. The cost for this camp is $119.

In addition, SCC will offer a new cheerleading camp for ages 5-12. Experienced instructors will teach the latest dance moves, jumps, and cheer techniques to young children who aspire to dance. Cheerleaders will participate in dance routines, cheers, spirit crafts, and dance parties. Dance routines include hip-hop, jazz, pom-pom, and kick.

Participants can choose from two sessions, but times remain the same for both camps. The first camp will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, June 25, to Friday, June 29 (CFK-391-40); the second camp will run from Monday, July 23, to Friday, July 27 (CFK-391-41). The cost for cheerleading camp is $150.

Instructors ask that all camp participants bring water bottles, sack lunch, and a snack. To register, call 636-922-8233.
