SCC’S YOUNG PEOPLE’S THEATRE OFFERING FOUR
NEW CAMPS THIS SUMMER

    The St. Charles Community College Young People’s Theatre is offering four new theater camps this summer.  The camps will give students a chance to get a feel for acting and theater production in a relaxed setting.

    In ATC-202-40, Drama Camp (Ages 8-12), students will experience the complete process of play production through performance.  Each child will be cast in, rehearse, and perform a short one-act play.  The students will learn how to analyze characters and scripts, memorize lines, and use props and costumes.  The performances will be at 6 p.m. Friday, June 22.  The camp is from
9 a.m.-noon, Monday-Thursday, June 11-21.  Registration is $149.

    In ATC-205-40, Drama Camp (Ages 12 and Up), students will participate in an accelerated theater camp and produce and perform in a one-act production.  Students will audition for, rehearse, and perform a short one-act play for family and friends.  The camp is from 6-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, Aug. 6-10.  Registration is $75.

    In ATC-204-40, Shakespeare Camp, students will study Shakespeare’s comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, by looking at the play’s writing and literary techniques.  Students will analyze, rehearse, and perform scenes from the play, learn basic stage combinations, and how to use classic dialogue correctly.  There will be a one-hour performance at 7 p.m. Friday, July 20.  The camp is from 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Friday, July 16-20.  Registration is $149.

    In ATC-203-40, High School Musical Camp, students will focus on the audition and performance techniques for musical theater.  Students will learn song and dance routines to produce a short musical theater performance.  The production will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 22.  The camp is from 12:30-3:30 Monday-Thursday, June 11-21.  Registration is $149.
