LESLIE CORNER AWARDED ANNUAL SCC FACULTY ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

    St. Charles Community College sophomore Leslie Corner received the SCC Faculty Association’s annual scholarship on Thursday, May 10.  The annual $1,000 award may be applied at any academic institution including SCC.

    Corner has been the recipient of several awards while attending SCC, including the college’s 2006 Outstanding Service award, the 2006 Missouri Community College Association Student Leadership award, and the Phi Kappa Theta Five-Star Enhancement Membership award.

    “Leslie Corner is a very deserving student, she had an excellent record here at SCC and we know the scholarship will benefit her as she progresses in her academic career,” said Joe Hartnett, SCC Faculty Association president.

    Corner received her Associate of Arts degree from SCC on Saturday, May 12.  While at SCC, Corner majored in social work and minored in psychology and English.  Corner will finish the required coursework for her minor in psychology this fall and will pursue a degree in social work from the University of Missouri-St. Louis beginning in January.

    “I am greatful to have received the SCC Faculty Association scholarship because it is the reason I can stay at SCC for one more semester,” Corner said.  “The money gives me the opportunity to complete my minor in psychology before moving on to UMSL.”
