SCC TO OFFER NEW WEEK-LONG YOUTH SUMMER CAMPS

    St. Charles Community College is offering three new youth summer camps through its Continuing Education Department.  The camps, intended for children ages 6-10, offer a variety of entertainment and educational options for boys and girls.

    In CFK-117-40, Harry Potter, children ages 7-9 can spend an enchanting week learning about Harry Potter.  Students will win points throughout the camp according to the house to which they are assigned.  For five days, the students will make magical wands, secret potions, learn how to take care of magical creatures, and learn magic tricks from a professional magician.  The camp is from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 4-8.  Registration is $179.

    In CFK-048-40, You’re an American Girl, girls ages 7-10 will use dolls as learning devices for discovering American history.  During the week, students will make homemade bread, s’mores, and other treats.  They will also learn about games, crafts, and music from different time periods.  The week wraps up with a special American Girl tea party.  The camp is from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Monday-Friday, July 9-13.  Registration is $179

    In CFK-394-40F, Around the World in Five Days, students will spend each day learning about a new country or region and its culture.  Individual days will be devoted to learning about Africa, Japan, China, and France.  Students will learn about language, music, art, food, and entertainment.  The last day of camp will be spent traveling to the Worldway Children’s Museum.  The $20 field trip fee is payable with tuition.  The camp is from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, Aug. 6-10.  Registration is $179.
