SCC TO PRESENT FACULTY VIOLIN RECITAL ON MAY 6

    St. Charles Community College professor of music Kaoru Wada will perform a violin recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in the theater of the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building on the SCC campus.  Admission is free and the program is open to the public.

    Wada will perform pieces composed by Joe Venuti, Astor Piazzolla, Michio Miyagi, and Manuel de Falla.  Naoki Hakutani will accompany Wada on the piano.

    Wada, a native of Japan, graduated from Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo with a bachelor’s degree in music.  She continued her studies in the United States.  She holds a graduate diploma in performance from the St. Louis Conservatory of Music and a master’s degree in Music from Webster University in St. Louis.

    She has performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the National Orchestral Institute, and the National Repertory Orchestra and Spoleto Festival Orchestra.  Additionally, she has played with the Tokyo Symphony and the Illinois Symphony Orchestra as a substitute.
