GET IN SHAPE THIS MARCH WITH FITNESS CLASSES AT SCC


    Work yourself into shape this March while learning practical protection skills, discovering the art of Kung Fu, and participating in fun and innovative exercise programs at St. Charles Community College.

    In REC-315-50, Practical Self Defense, learn a highly developed system of self-defense for women and men.  Based on the principles of Tae Kwon Do, this course teaches skills for protection, overall fitness, and helps the participant achieve a better self-image.  The class is taught from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 20-May 10, in the College Center.  Registration is $76.

    In REC-309-50, Tai Chi I, students will get an introduction in Chen Style Tai Chi Quan, following the teaching of Grand Master Feng of Beijing.  The class includes Chen Style essential 48 form, silk reeling exercises, and QiGong exercises.  Increase mobility, flexibility, breathing capacity, and balance.  The course is taught from 3:30-5 p.m. Sundays, March 25-May 20, in the College Center. Registration is $84.

    In REC-316-50 and REC-316-51, Tai Chi for Special Needs, those suffering from Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, arthritis, stroke recovery, and other similar conditions affecting balance, coordination, and flexibility have the ability to benefit from Tai Chi techniques.  Students should check with a physician to ensure the class is suitable.  The courses take place from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, March 19-May 7, and 5:15-6:15 p.m. Sundays, March 25-May 20, in the College Center.  Registration is $96.  

    In REC-802-50, REC-802-51, and REC-802-52, Beginning Cardio Kickboxing, learn the latest for muscle conditioning and cardiovascular endurance.  Participants will use time interval drill training using martial arts and boxing moves.  Class are from 6-6:50 p.m., 7-7:50 p.m., and 8-8:50 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, March 19-May 9, in the College Center.  Registration is $76.

    In REC-804-50, Intermediate Cardio Kickboxing, participate in a continuation of Beginning Cardio Kickboxing.  Classes are taught from 11:30 a.m.-12:20 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 20-May 10, in the College Center.  Registration is $76.

    In REC-54-50, Kung Fu for Physical Fitness and Self-Defense, learn a comprehensive study of the Chinese martial arts that exposes the true principles and concepts that have been a mystery to the Western World.  The course includes physical applications of these concepts in self-defense.  It is taught from 7-8 p.m. Mondays, March 26-May 14, in the College Center.  Registration is $56.
