NEWS STORY FORMAT

SCC HISTORY THEATRE TO HOLD AUDITIONS IN MARCH


    The St. Charles Community College History Theatre will be holding auditions for five historical plays in late March as a part of the SCC History Festival.  The SCC History Theatre is an annual series of historical theater performances that will be presented on the SCC campus May 15-20.  The event is a creative celebration of national heritage where autobiographies and other original historical texts are converted into dramatic live theater.

    The project is being coordinated by Hal Berry, professor of theater and history, and the college’s Business and Social Sciences Division.    All auditions will take place in the auditorium of the Social Sciences Building on the SCC campus.
 
    7 p.m. Friday, March 30 – “Mr. Lincoln” – Auditioning males should be over five-feet-11-inches tall and slender with a strong stage presence to carry a full-length play.  The audition will require cold readings of the script. The production opens in mid-May.

    7 p.m. Friday, March 30 –“Thomas Paine and Common Sense” and “Conversations with John and Abigail Adams” – Open roles include, a male and female needed to portray John and Abigail Adams, and three to four males for a production on Thomas Paine.  The audition will require cold readings from the script.     10 a.m. Saturday, March 31 “Anne Frank and Me” – The production calls for two to four adults and an expandable cast of teenagers, males, and females, ages 12-15.  The audition will require cold readings of the script.  Callbacks will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, in the same location.  Rehearsal begins April 2, and the production opens in mid-May.
