NEWS STORY FORMAT

SCC MULTIMEDIA INVITATIONAL ART EXHIBITION
OPENS MARCH 19
Artists’ Reception Scheduled for March 21

The St. Charles Community College Multimedia Invitational Art Exhibition, open March 19-
April 5 in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building gallery on the SCC campus, will feature the work of seven professional artists.

Guests are invited to see works by the following artists: Jeff Forster (ceramics), Sarah Frost (sculpture), Dani Kantrowitz (drawing), Paul Lajeunesse (painting), Sandra Marchewa (mixed media), Sun Smith Foret (textiles), and Brett Williams (video).

“The SCC Multimedia Invitational is an exhibition of professional artists throughout the region who work with a multitude of different mediums,” gallery director Brian Smith said.  “The show is a great experience for the artists because I feel we have the best gallery in the county and they are provided the opportunity to display their work in an area comparable to a small commercial gallery.”

The show is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays.  A free artists’ reception for the public will take place 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, in the gallery.  The college is located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville.

Students are encouraged to attend the reception where artists will be available to interact with and speak to those in attendance.

“This is a great opportunity for students to see current, challenging, and innovative work without having to travel great distances to do so,” Smith said.

For more information about the exhibition or future shows at SCC, contact Smith at 636-922-8575.
