All first-time freshmen who plan to enroll in 6 hours or more (two or more classes) their first semester must
take the assessment. It is strongly recommended that the
assessment be taken before seeing an academic counselor to
register.
Assessment results are required to enroll in math,
English, and reading, and for all first-time freshman
taking 6 hours or more.
If a student has already completed English and/or math
at another college, the full assessment is not needed;
however, proof of prerequisite will be required if a
student wants to enroll in math or English.
Please submit your completed application for admission
at the Assessment Center, at the time you plan to test.

Meet with a counselor and register for classes.
First-time freshman taking 6 hours or more (two or
more classes) are required to speak with an academic
counselor in order to enroll. Freshmen registering for the fall semester will be directed to sign up for a Smart Start registration session (if registering prior to July 4th).
Before meeting with an academic counselor,
consider the following:
Check the college catalog to make sure you meet course
requirements.
If you had prerequisite courses at a college other
than SCC, you will need to have the transcript or grade
card in your admissions file or with you when you register
to show proof that you have met that prerequisite (proof
of prerequisite).
Check SCC Connection on our Web site to see if the
course(s) you want are still open.
COL 101 is required of all first-time freshmen who
take 9 hours or more in fall or spring, or 5 or more hours
in summer.
For an appointment, call 636-922-8241 or 636-922-8246, or
go to ADM 1204.
Freshmen taking less than 6 hours and students with
previous college credit are not required to meet with a
counselor. However, all students are encouraged to meet
with a counselor before enrolling.
