Step-By-Step Guide to the LPN Nursing Admissions Process

  1. Apply to the college in the Administration Building 1204 or on-line.
  2. If you do not have college English or math credit, take the assessment test for English, reading, and math placement. These tests are free in the Assessment Center, ADM 1206.
  3. Send for official transcripts of all colleges attended and request that they be evaluated by filling out the Credit Evaluation Form.
  4. Have official high school transcripts or GED scores sent to Admissions, ADM 1113. If you do not have a high school diploma or a GED certificate, you must take and pass the GED test.
  5. Formulate an educational plan and discuss the LPN requirements with a Career-technical counselor in Room 1204 ADM. Please call 636-922-8246 or 636-922-8241 to schedule and appointment.

  7. Obtain and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or greater on a minimum of six college credit hours. Developmental courses do not count towards this total.

    1. Students with 10 college hours of general education courses with a GPA of 2.5 or above do not need to take the ACT.
  9. Take and pass the Dosage Calculations Test with a score of 90% or greater. Three attempts are allowed to pass the Dosage between January 1 and December 20. Review classes are available but not required. You can obtain more information about the Dosage in Room 1204 of the ADM building.
  10. Acceptance into the LPN program is granted when:
    1. Space is available. Forty students are accepted each spring on a first come first served basis.
    2. English 095 and Math 095 are complete.
    3. High school transcripts or GED scores are on file.
    4. Ten credit hours of college coursework completed with a GPA of 2.5 or higher or a Composite GPA score of 20 or greater from within the past 5 years.
    5. Dosage test is passed at 90% or higher.
    6. If a student has met these requirements and the class is full, the student can request to be placed on the alternate list for that year.
    7. If a student does not get into the LPN program for that year they must reapply to be considered for the following year.
