Today is the last day for faculty of 12/FA2 courses to fill out the Faculty Information Forms (FIFs). The open time period for faculty of 12/FA & 12/FA3 courses to fill out their FIFs has already passed. The college desires faculty feedback to improve the quality of the educational experience at your community college. Faculty should check their Outlook email or the Intranet for more information.

Long lines getting you down? Now people can zip through the cashier's line at the Plaza Bistro and Café Express when using a credit or debit card. Purchases of $25 or less no longer require a signature.

Check out the 2012 Mid Rivers Review, the literary journal published annually by the SCC English Department. The journal contains poetry, prose and artwork contributed by students, staff, faculty and area residents. Mid Rivers Review can be purchased at the SCC Bookstore or by calling x8407.

SCC is an approved charity in the Schnucks Escrip program, which means if employees show an Escrip card at checkout, Schnucks will donate a portion of that sale to the SCC Foundation. Signing up for a card is free and doesn’t cost anything to use. To receive and activate an Escrip card, email Tara Cochran. Employees that already have an Escrip card, just remember to have Schnucks swipe it while purchasing groceries.

The SCC Fall Student Art Exhibition remains open through Friday, Dec. 7, in the FAB gallery. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday. For more information, contact Christine Holtz.

SCC Music Department's Winter Concert performances will be held Dec. 3-6 in the FAB Theater:

  • SCC Concert Band: 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3.
  • SCC Singers and Chamber Choir: 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4.
  • SCC Jazz Combos: 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5.
  • SCC Orchestra: 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6.

The concerts are free and open to the public.

The Handmade Marketplace Craft Show will take place from 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in the College Center Gym. This is a craft show that features a collaboration of local artists and their crafts from Esty, a popular e-commerce site. Attendees will discover fine, handmade items, watch demonstrations, learn how to create handmade crafts, and knockout some holiday shopping - all at the same time. SCC Young People's Theatre will present Irving Berlin's White Christmas at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Dec. 14-15, and at 2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 15-16, in the FAB Theater. Tickets are $8. Get your tickets online at www.stchastickets.com or call x8233.

Academic Advising is taking student appointments. To schedule an appointment with a counselor, students can call 636-922-8241 or stop by the Academic Advising office, located in Room 1204 of the Administration Building. Office hours are 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday.

SCC Foundation announced that scholarship applications for fall 2013 will be available online starting Dec. 3. The deadline for submitting scholarship applications is March 1, 2013. See Scholarships for more information.

Student Activities will hold a free seminar "Stress, Anxiety and Coping" from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, in the auditorium of the Social Sciences Building. Presented by KUTO (Kids Under Twenty One), the seminar helps students recognize stress as a natural and manageable reaction to physical and emotional distress, understand sources of stress and signals of onset, identify strategies to relieve stress and productive coping mechanisms, encourage a change in attitudes toward help-seeking / help-giving, and identify KUTO as resource and other community resources. 

SCC is giving free SALT memberships to students and alumni. With SALT students can learn about finances, track student loans, receive deals and discounts, and search for jobs, internships and scholarships. Students can check CougarMail for the invite or visit www.saltmoney.org/stchas.
