The SCC Employee Fitness Program is now enrolling for the fall semester. Staff and faculty are eligible to enroll in credit and non-credit fitness classes for free. To enroll, email Marybeth Mason with the following information: Name, office room number, phone extension, employee clock number, home address and phone number, date of birth, and the titles, dates and meeting times of the classes you want to take.

Check out the new daily photo documentary of the college, from the perspectives of 26 SCC employees from various departments on campus. The MCCA (Missouri Community College Association) Annual Membership Drive has begun. Membership dues are $30 for the whole year. Contact Karen Murray at x8556 to sign up or for more information.

SCC will host the 2012 Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, Sept. 29. If you are interested in volunteering for the event, contact Debbie Eldridge, Alzheimer's Association volunteer coordinator, at 314-801-0414. If you are interested in joining the SCC walking team, contact Yvonne Wills at x8315.

Want to volunteer at the MO’ Cowbell Half Marathon and 5K on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, in St. Charles? You may register online. The run is an initiative of the St. Charles County Partners for Progress, of which SCC is a partner.

The new Café Express in the Café/Bookstore is now open for the fall semester.

SCC is an approved charity in the Schnucks Escrip program, which means if you show an Escrip card at checkout, Schnucks will donate a portion of your sale to the SCC Foundation. Signing up for a card is free and doesn’t cost anything to use. To receive and activate an Escrip card, email Tara Cochran. If you already have one, just remember to have Schnucks swipe it while purchasing groceries. In 2011, thanks to all the Escrip program supporters, the SCC Foundation received an additional $1,019.87 to award in scholarships and grants.

The Dynamic vs. Static Art Exhibition will be on display until Sept. 21 in the FAB gallery. This exhibit includes artwork by seven regional artists exploring a variety of techniques combined with a wider array of conceptual approaches. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, contact Christine Holtz.

SCC Continuing Education will host a career program open house for those interested in starting a career as a personal trainer, home inspector or a paralegal from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in HUM 208, 212 and 216. The SCC Coffeehouse Open-Mic Night will be from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in the SSB lounge. Poets, short fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers and songwriters are welcome to share their creativity. Complimentary coffee and cookies are served. SCC Student Activities is hosting a free film screening of "Brave" outside on the big screen at
8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, on the lawn near the Tech Building.
This event is free and open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to bring their families, picnic baskets, blankets and chairs for the movie. There will be free popcorn and additional concessional items for sale. Contact Mandi Smith at x8469 for more information.

Auditions for SCC Idol will be held in the SSB Auditorium on the following dates and times:

  • 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17
  • 8:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18
  • 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19

Democracy Days will be held the week of Sept. 17-20. This year's forum will tackle election year topics and will feature a week full of lectures, panels and discussions. To see a full schedule of events, click here.

The SCC Foundation’s Presidents Classic Golf Scramble is set for Monday, Sept. 24, at Lake Forest Country Club.  Registration opens at 10:30 a.m. with a noon shotgun start. Want to volunteer? Contact Betsy Schneider at x8473.

The Employee Sponsored Program (ESP) will host SCC Trivia Night at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, in the SSB Auditorium. Cost is $25 per person, or $200 per table of up to eight people, and includes popcorn and beverages. Deadline to register is Wednesday, Oct. 10. Last day to change from credit to audit or audit to credit for 12/FA classes is Friday, Sept. 14.

The 22nd Annual St. Charles Regional College Fair will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, in the College Center. Nearly 100 colleges, universities and technical schools from nearly 15 states as well as the armed services will be represented at this free event, which is free and open to the public. Last day to receive a W for 12/FA1 classes is Monday, Sept. 24.

New this fall, there is a charge for printing in the LRC, ACE Center and Tech 116. The charges are $0.10 for a black/white, one-sided copy, $0.15 for a black/white, double-sided copy and $0.30 for a color, one-sided copy. Students must present their SCC student ID in order to print on campus and separate community log-in information will be provided for local residents to access paid printing in the LRC.
