Phi Theta Kappa is collecting cleaning supplies to donate to Youth In Need for their "spring cleaning." Donation drop off boxes are located in the SSB, ADM and CC. The SCC Library is hosting its 19th annual used book sale from 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, April 9-11. The book sale is part of the celebration for National Library Week, April 8-14. Both fiction and non-fiction material will be available. Books will be $.50 for paperbacks and $1 for hardbacks. For more information, call Theresa Flett at x8620.

Partners from Mueller Prost PC, a local CPA and business advisory firm, will present “How Vulnerable Is Your Company to Fraud?” from 7:30-9 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, at the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles. This event is part of the SCC Leadership & Strategy Speaker Series. The event is free, but pre-registration on the St. Charles Chamber website is required by midnight on April 8.
The SCC Coffeehouse Open-Mic Night will be at 7 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the Student Lounge of the Social Sciences Building. Poets, authors and songwriters are invited to share their creativity, or just stop by to enjoy the live entertainment along with free coffee and cookies. SCC will host a series of events the week of April 16-19 in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month. All events will be held in the Auditorium of the Social Sciences Building and they are free and open to the public. In these sessions, participants will learn about the signs and impact of abuse as well as the investigatory process and the current legal implications. SCC Center Stage Theatre will present “Becky’s New Car,” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, April 18-19, at 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, April 20-21, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in the FAB theater. A juried exhibit featuring artwork by SCC students will be on display April 23-May 4 in the FAB gallery. An opening reception will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in the gallery, with an awards ceremony at 7 p.m. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays, and

Sign up for the 10K, 5K or Fun Run at SCC's 20th annual RUN. LIVE. LEARN. event (formerly known as the Spring Wellness Festival) on Saturday, April 28, on the SCC campus. There is an award for the top male and female student in the 10K and 5K races. Cost is $20 to enter the 10K or 5K, $15 for the Fun Run. Register online at stchas.edu/run. Summer and fall 2012 registration for new SCC students begins Monday, April 9. SCC will host a free Returning Learners Workshop from 8:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, April 23-25, in the Student Center Private Dining Room. The workshop explores the educational opportunities that are available to prepare a returning learner (non-traditional student) for a new career or a lifestyle change he or she is facing. To register, call x8241 or x8248. Successful completion of the workshop will fulfill the requirement of the College Success Seminar (COL-101).
