Spring break is March 12-17. No classes will be held. Classes will resume Monday, March 19. College offices will remain open during spring break.

SCC Friends & Alumni is partnering with Sentry Insurance to host a Lunch & Learn event from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, in the Student Center Private Dining Room. The SCC Psychology Department will host a lecture titled Well-Balanced: An Approach to Stress Management” at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, in the SSB Auditorium. The lecture will feature speakers Vi Rajagopalan, SCC associate professor of psychology, and Sharon L. Thornton, director of Lyndell Institute in St. Peters. Center Stage Theatre will present “Harvey,” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, Feb. 29-March 1,

Learn the skills necessary for survival in the workplace at Panache That Pays, a social and business etiquette luncheon, from noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in the Private Dining Room of the Student Center. Center Stage Theatre is holding open auditions for “Becky’s New Car" at 7 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday, March 6-7, in FAB 108. There are parts for four men and three women. Contact Lonna Wilke for more information.

The SCC Faculty Art Exhibition will be on display March 12-April 6 in the FAB gallery.

Erin Cox and Todd Thomas from EnterTraining International will present “Finding Creative Business Solutions,” from 7:30-9 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, at the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles. The 2011-12 Staff Training and Education Program (STEP) schedule is now available online. Deadlines for enrolling: Supervisor Module: Role of a Leader (EAP – offsite), Feb. 27; Planning, Organizing and Conducting Effective Department Meetings (Supervisor Training), March 2; Stress: Where It Comes From and How It Affects You, March 9. Faculty and staff who are interested in joining a recreational co-ed softball team this spring should contact Todd Galbierz at x8359. The team will play doubleheaders on Thursday nights at the Ozzie Smith Sports Complex in O’Fallon. The league begins on March 29 and the game times are between 6:30-10:30 pm. The estimated cost per player is $40, depending on the number of people on the team.

The SCC Foundation and Board of Trustees Scholarship Program will award nearly $250,000 in scholarships to SCC students for the 2012-13 school year. Scholarship packets are available at www.stchas.edu/scholarships. Packets are due by 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2012.

­Bob Ronkoski, SCC director of public safety, was recently appointed to the Higher Education Subcommittee of the Missouri Homeland Security Advisory Council (HES-HSAC). The HES was established in Nov. 2007, at the recommendation of the Task Force on Campus Security, to identify best practices and make recommendations for ways to ensure that college campuses throughout the state are as safe as possible.

Barbara Keim, SCC vice president for technology, research and planning, has been selected as a Pathways reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission Peer Corps. Her duties include reviewing self-studies of other colleges, going on site visits to validate the information in the self-study, and writing reports on the outcomes of those visits.
