SCC has been asked to participate in an important survey for the future of St. Charles County by the St. Charles County Partners for Progress Quality of Place Committee. Please take a moment to fill it out online. Surveys can be turned in anonymously. Those who provide their contact information at the end will go into a drawing for one of three $50 pre-paid MasterCard gift cards. The deadline to participate is Wednesday, Nov. 30.

The SCC Staff and Faculty Holiday Social will be from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, in the Plaza Bistro.

Phi Theta Kappa’s Alpha Xi Chi Chapter will be collecting treats, dry and canned food, grooming supplies and other items for cats and dogs in need at the local St. Charles County Division of Humane Services. Donations can be dropped off in designated collection boxes found in ADM, SSB and the College Center from now until Dec. 9. Email scc.axc.ptk@gmail.com for more information.

The college will be closed for the holidays Friday, Dec. 23, 2011-Monday, Jan. 2, 2012. Offices will re-open Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012.

The SCC Fall Student Art Exhibition will be on display until Saturday, Dec. 10, in the FAB gallery. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information about this exhibit or upcoming exhibits, contact Christine Holtz.

SCC will celebrate AIDS Awareness Week Nov. 28-Dec. 1, in honor of World AIDS Day on Thursday, Dec. 1. The week’s events will include presentations, free red ribbons, free HIV testing and a large community ribbon for everyone to sign to promote AIDS awareness. Hal Berry, SCC professor of history and theater, will present "Native Lands and America's Energy and Mineral Policies" at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the SSB Auditorium. This event is part of Native American Heritage Month. Contact Berry at x8261 for more information.

Celebrate the spiritual and cultural life of the Plains Indians with a free musical performance by Michael Murphy and D.Z. Iron Wing at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the SSB Auditorium. The program includes the songs, prayers and dances of the Lakota and other native nations. This event is part of Native American Heritage Month. Contact Hal Berry at x8261 for more information.

The SCC Coffeehouse Open-Mic Night will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in the SSB lounge. Poets, short fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers and songwriters are welcome to share their creativity. Complimentary coffee and cookies are served. There will be a faculty percussion recital at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in the FAB theater.

Enjoy free SCC winter concerts every night at 8 p.m. the week of Dec. 5-8, in the FAB theater including:

SCC Student Activities will host “SCC on Ice,” a free ice-skating event from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, on the outdoor Campus Plaza. There will be an artificial ice rink on the SCC campus, complete with free skate rentals open to the public. Attendees may also choose to enter a giant walk-in snow globe for a whimsical photo opportunity. Free hot cocoa and flavored coffee will be provided. The last day to apply for March/May 2012 graduation is Wednesday, Nov. 30.

The last day of fall 2011 credit classes is Saturday, Dec. 10. Final exams will be Monday,
Dec. 12-Saturday, Dec. 17. 

Tuition and fees for 12/SP01 classes are due Thursday, Dec. 15.

SCC students Angela Aguirre, Margaret Beckmann, Charles Beysselance IV, Cheryl Clerkley, Jeffrey Martin, Matthew Mueller and Emily Sinn were inducted into the SCC Lambda Chapter of the Tau Upsilon Alpha National Human Services Honor Society on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Congratulations to the SCC men’s and women’s soccer teams for naming several players to both the All-Region and All-MCCAC (Midwest Community College Athletic Conference) teams of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The following players received awards for the men's team:
