The SCC 25th Anniversary website is now live! Check it out at www.stchas.edu/25th, and look at old photos, check out the blog, find out what events are happening, and read testimonials and memories. You can also submit your own memories, stories and photos.

If you would like to be included in the SCC Expert Guide, the deadline to submit information has been extended to Friday, March 11. The SCC Expert Guide is an online resource, hosted on the SCC website, that will be used by media and organizations looking for an expert or speaker. To sign up, submit a resume, vitae or current bio to Peggy Schreiner or to Marketing and Communications (MAC) Office in ADM 1121. You can also fill out an online form on the MAC's Intranet page. Contact Michael Kuelker or Peggy Schreiner if you have any questions.

The SCC library is collecting used textbooks, novels and other books for its annual library book sale April 11-12. Please donate your books by April 11.

Tell us your story! Do you know someone, whether it's a student, faculty or staff member at SCC, who deserves to be recognized? Or maybe you have a unique story about yourself or your experiences at SCC that you'd like to share with us! Now you can, online it's easy! Just go to SCC's home page (www.stchas.edu) and click on the blue "I (heart) SCC" icon at the bottom of the page and fill out the form, either for yourself or about someone you know whose story deserves to be heard! If you have any questions, contact the office of Marketing and Communications Department.

Make Schnucks your one-stop shop to get everything you need to stock up your fridge. Be sure to use your Schnucks Escrip card and help raise money for the SCC Foundation at the same time! When you're at the checkout counter with your groceries just hand the cashier your Escrip card before you pay – it’s as simple as that! A percentage of all of your purchases will go toward the Foundation. For more information about the card or to register your eScrip card, contact Jessica O'Laughlin at x8437.

The SCC Cougars women's softball team season began on Feb. 26 against Iowa Central College. Click here for the full schedule. Here are some upcoming home games at SCC:

  • Central Methodist University: 2 p.m. Monday, March 7
  • Lindenwood University: 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9
  • Muskatine College: 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10
  • Bemidji State University: Noon Friday, March 11
  • Crowder College: 2 p.m. Friday, March 18

The SCC Cougars men's baseball team season was slated to begin on Feb. 26 against Kirkwood Community College. Click here for the full schedule. Their next home game at SCC is against North Central Community College at noon Sunday, March 20.

A mental health presentation about Sleep as a Mental Health Concern will be held at 2:30 pm. Tuesday, March 8, in the SSB auditorium.

The Young People's Theatre will perform a school edition of "Les Misérables" 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, March 18-19 and 25-26, and at 2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, March 19-20 and 26-27. Tickets are $8 for all ages. Call x8233 for tickets.

The Master of Fine Arts Invitational will take place March 14-April 15 in the FAB gallery. The exhibit will feature art from local graduate students. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays.

Check out the 2011 Staff Training and Education Program (STEP) schedule.  Deadlines for enrolling: Payroll Processing Q&A, March 7; Introduction to dotCMS for Content Editors, March 9; Word Basic, March 15; and Excel Basic, March 25. The job reclassification application deadline has been moved up to Tuesday, March 15.

Beginning this week, all students will be required to present a photo ID when requesting student services from Enrollment Services, Student Development, the Cashier's Office, and the Assessment Center, among others. Photo IDs can be anything from a school ID to a driver's license, or even a gym/club membership ID, as long as it has the student's photo and name on it. This is part of an effort to enhance the security of students' private and confidential information.

All fees for 11/SP2 eight-week classes are due Thursday, March 10.

11/SP2 second eight-week Saturday classes begin Saturday, March 12.

Spring break will be March 14-18. No classes will be held during this time. SCC offices will remain open for normal operating hours.

11/SP2 second eight-week classes begin Monday, March 21.

11/SP1 first eight-week classes end Monday, March 21.

The SCC English Department is accepting submissions from students for two essay awards: The Annie Dillard Award for Creative Non-fiction and the E.B. White Award for Expository Writing. The deadline for submissions is 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23. For more information, contact Heather Rodgers at x8506.

SCC Foundation scholarship packets for Fall 2011 are now available online and in various locations on campus. Students must fill out the packet and return it to Jared Conner in ADM 1113 by April 1.
