Web sites
Web sites that can help get you started researching education
and related topics are provided below. If you want full-text
articles, search one of SCC's article indexes.
- Teacher - ED.gov
- From the U.S. Department of Education, this is a great
gateway site for teachers. It has research publications, lesson
ideas, assessment information, NCLB requirements, and much more.
There are also links to subject area web resources such as art,
math, science, etc.
- The Educator’s Reference
Desk
- The Educator's Reference Desk has 2,000+ lesson plans, 3,000+
links to online education information, and 200+ question archive
responses from AskERIC, the Gateway to Educational Materials,
and the Virtual Reference Desk.
- PBS Teachers
- This colorful, well-organized web site contains over 3,000
lesson plans and activities.
- Teachable Moment
- "Free, timely topical activities and lesson plans for
the K-12 classroom offered by the nonprofit Educators for Social
Responsibility Metropolitan Area."
- National Center for Education Statistics
- Also from the US Department of Education, "NCES is the primary
federal entity for collecting and analyzing data that are related
to education in the United States and other nations."
- Blue Web'n: a Library of Blue Ribbon Learning Sites
on the Web
- "Blue Web'n is an online library of outstanding Internet
sites categorized by subject, grade level, and format (tools,
references, lessons, hotlists, resources, tutorials, activities,
projects). Blue Web'n does not attempt to catalog all educational
sites. Sites are hand-picked and are, in our opinion, among the
most useful for classroom or instructional use."
