Commitment to Privacy

St. Charles Community College (SCC) is committed to protecting your privacy. The college recognizes that it is critical for visitors to SCC’s website to be confident that their privacy is protected. You can visit most of SCC’s site without providing any information about yourself. Sometimes information is needed to provide services that you request, and this commitment to privacy explains SCC’s online information practices.

SCC does not collect any personal information about you unless you provide that information voluntarily by sending an e-mail, completing an online information request form, completing the online application or registering online.

The collection of information through www.stchas.edu and the disclosure of that information are in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), also known as the Buckley Amendment. SCC will only collect personal information through www.stchas.edu or disclose personal information collected through www.stcha.edu if the user has consented to the collection or disclosure of such personal information. The voluntary disclosure of personal information to SCC by the user constitutes consent to the collection and disclosure of the information by SCC for the purposes for which the user disclosed the information to SCC.

(1)  necessary to perform the statutory duties of SCC, or necessary for SCC to operate a program authorized by law, or authorized by state or federal statute or regulation;

SCC may disclose personal information to federal or state law enforcement authorities to enforce its rights against unauthorized access or attempted unauthorized access to SCC’s information technology assets.

The college’s record retention rules are in accordance with the Community College Records Manual provided by the Missouri Secretary of State. It can be accessed at http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/localrecs/schedules/college.asp. In general, the Internet services logs of SCC, comprising electronic files or automated logs created to monitor access and use of college services provided through www.stchas.edu, are archived for future reference.

Confidentiality and Integrity of Personal Information Collected Through www.stchas.edu 

SCC is strongly committed to protecting personal information collected through www.stchas.edu against unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Consequently, SCC limits employee access to personal information collected through www.stchas.edu to only those employees who need access to the information in the performance of their official duties. Employees who have access to this information follow appropriate procedures in connection with any disclosures of personal information.
