TOBACCO-FREE CAMPUS
PROCEDURE FOR EMPLOYEE COMPLIANCE
- Effective January 1, 2007, whenever Department
of Public Safety (DPS) officers observe an employee who is not
complying with the tobacco-free campus policy, the DPS officer
will give the employee a reminder card.
- The officer may ask for an ID from the employee and
will report the incident to the DPS office.
- DPS will record the reminder.
- The second time an employee is observed not complying
with the policy, the DPS officer will again give the employee
a reminder card.
- The officer may ask for an ID from the employee and
will report the incident to the DPS office.
- DPS will record the reminder.
- DPS will notify the employee’s supervisor.
- The supervisor will counsel the employee.
- The third time an employee is observed not complying
with the policy, the DPS officer will again give the employee
a reminder card.
- The officer may ask for an ID from the employee and
will report the incident to the DPS office.
- DPS will record the reminder.
- DPS will notify the employee’s supervisor and
provide the supervisor and Human Resources with a list of
the policy violations.
- The supervisor will administer progressive disciplinary
action in accordance with the College’s Disciplinary
Actions Policy 593.0.
- Supervisors may follow up with employees on violations observed
and reported by others.
