The last day of spring semester credit classes in Monday, May 12. Final grades are due Wednesday, May 21. Summer and fall registration will continue throughout May from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Fridays. Phi Theta Kappa is collecting used cell phones for a recycling project, Cell Phones for Soldiers, that will give soldiers the necessary means to call home. If you are interested in donating, stop by the collection boxes located in SSB and at the Information Desk in ADM. There will soon be boxes in HUM, the College Center, and the Bookstore. For more information, contact Christy Gant at x8398. This year’s volume of Mid Rivers Review is now available in the bookstore. The literary journal, which is $7 per copy, features poetry, prose, and black and white photography by SCC students, faculty, and staff, as well as work by members of the creative community at large. The college will be closed Monday, May 26, for Memorial Day. |

Can’t remember that meeting or event? Search the online SCC Calendar. Events are categorized under various headings in a drop-down menu; just choose the one that interests you. Artwork created by students in the Fort Zumwalt School District will be on display in the FAB Gallery May 16-21. A reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, May 21. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, contact Brian Smith at x8575. The SCC Show Choir will perform a spring concert 8 p.m. Friday, May 16, in the FAB Theater. The evening of singing and dancing will include tunes from such greats as Irving Berlin, "Fats" Waller, Stephen Sondheim, and Duke Ellington, with other arrangements by Greg Gilpin, Kirby Shaw, and Mark Brymer. This is a free event. For more information, contact Gene Ditch at x8539. The 2008 SCC Commencement Exercises will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, in the College Center. A reception will follow in the outdoor campus plaza, or in the SSB in the case of inclement weather. Auditions are approaching for the final Center Stage Theatre production of the 2007-08 season, Once Upon a Mattress. Auditions will be held in the FAB Theater, and are open to anyone 15 or older. All auditioners must do both a vocal audition and a dance audition. Vocal and acting auditions will be at 7 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, June 2-3. Auditioners should bring sheet music and be prepared to sing 16 bars of a Broadway-style show tune. Dance auditions will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4. A short dance combination will be taught. Callbacks will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4. Monologues are encouraged. The show will be performed July 29-Aug. 2. For more information, contact Tana Burton at x8254. |

Final exams will be May 13-19. Scholarship applications for the Fall 2008 semester are now available. There are scholarships for financial need as well as for specific fields of study. Mike Ott, director of food services, will be attending a financial management institute June 7-12 in Richmond, Va. The institute is through the National Association of College & University Food Services. Tim Riley, career consultant for the Dislocated Worker Program, will be walking in the Lindenwood University graduation ceremony on Friday, May 16.
