College Update
 

Summer registration will continue throughout April from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Fridays.

Fall registration will be held from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, April 14-17, and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, for current students only. Starting April 21 and continuing throughout April, fall registration will be open to everyone from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Fridays.

The Missouri Breaking Traditions contest has announced this year's outstanding students in nontraditional career and technical education programs. Edgar Micere, a student in the occupational therapy assistant program, and Kimberly Klein, an alum who studied computer aided drafting at SCC, were both Region V Postsecondary Adult winners.

The SCC Multimedia Invitational Art Exhibition will be held through April 20 in the FAB Gallery. The gallery is open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, contact Brian Smith at x8575.

A Phi Theta Kappa satellite seminar will be held from noon-1 p.m. Monday, April 14, in the SSB Auditorium on the topic of American Theocracy: Politics, Radical Religion, Oil, and Borrowed Money. For more information, contact Brenda Hollrah at x8230.

There will be free student music recitals performed at noon on Wednesday, April 16, in FAB 120. More.

The softball Cougars will play a home game at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, vs. SLCC Meramec. The baseball Cougars will play home games at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, and Thursday, April 24, against Kaskaskia and North Central.

Entries for the Business and Social Science student exhibit and competition will be on display noon-10 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday, April 18, and Monday-Wednesday, April 21-23, and 8 a.m.-noon Thursday, April 24, in the TECH Atrium. An opening reception will be from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, April 17. The competition categories include Multimedia and Web Design, CAD, GIS, and Business Administrative Systems.

April 21-25 is Alcohol Awareness Week at SCC. There will be information posted at a Health Information Station at Spring Fling on April 23-24. At Spring Fling, visit the information table, view a video, sign the "feelings and expressions" sheet, and see the Highway Patrol Troop C rollover car.

The SCC Outdoors Crew will host April Go Green in honor of Earth Day. From noon-12:50 p.m. Monday, April 21, there will be an Earth Day Awareness Seminar in the SSB Auditorium. There will also be a hybrid car displayed on campus. There will also be a screening of the Michael Moore documentary Sicko at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the SSB Auditorium. A barbecue extravaganza will take place from 6-8p.m. Saturday, April 26, in the CC Rotunda. For tickets to the barbecue and more information on April Go Green, contact Amy White at x8535.

Center Stage Theatre will present two one-act plays, The Room and The Dumb Waiter, at 8 p.m. April 23-26 and 2 p.m. April 27, in the theater of the FAB. The 16th Annual Spring Wellness Festival will be held Saturday, April 26, on the SCC campus. The event will start at 7:30 a.m. with a 10K race and 3-mile walk. There will be prizes for top finishers in the 10K, for age categories and for the top SCC student and SCC employee. The 1-Mile Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m. Race registration is $15 through April 22, $20 after April 22. For those who don't want to run, there will be more than 40 fitness, health, and wellness exhibits with product samples, health screenings, prizes, refreshments, and demonstrations in the Student Center from 8-11 a.m. For more information, contact Karen Decker at x8475. A Job Fair will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, May 2, in the College Center. The fair will feature booths from more than 100 business and industry employers. Job seekers will be able to collect information from state and county employment service agencies. Agencies offering assistance in job search, job training, and job preparation will also be on hand. Auditions for the History Theatre Festival productions will be in May. Rehearsals for the September productions will begin in early summer. Auditions for Sounds of the Cabaret will be at 7 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, May 5-6, in the SSB Auditorium. Singers and dancers are needed. Auditions for An Evening of Opera will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in Room 104 of the FAB. An appointment is required to audition for An Evening of Opera; contact Margaret O'Dea at x8419. Student Support
 

Spring Fling will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday-Thursday, April 23-24, outside the LRC. A free barbecue will be served by SCC administration, and there will be music from the Scott Porter Band. The rain location is the Student Center. At 5:30 p.m. both days, students are invited to the Student Center for free pizza. For more information, contact Kelley Pfeiffer at x8544.
