Midterm grades for late-start classes (08/SP3) are due Friday, April 4.

The fitness center will open at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1.

There will be a Fair Housing Seminar at noon on Monday, March 31, in the SSB Auditorium. The seminar will focus on fair housing issues in the St. Louis County areas.  Speaker Will Jordan will present a history of fair housing and discuss the meaning of housing discrimination. Healthy Communities and SCC will co-sponsor a Town Hall meeting on the topic of Binge Drinking and Social Hosting from 7-9 p.m. Monday, March 31, in the SSB Auditorium.

The Cougars will play at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, vs. SLCC Florissant Valley; Thursday, April 3, vs. Forest Park; Saturday, April 5, vs. Jefferson; and Thursday, April 10, vs. Three Rivers. They will also play at noon Sunday, April 6, vs. Crowder. The softball Cougars will play at 2 p.m. Monday, April 7, vs. SLCC Florissant Valley. All games will be played at SCC. A Teen Parent Open House will be held from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in the SSB Auditorium. This workshop will help teen parents still in high school identify a path and needed resources for education beyond high school. Local social service agencies will also be available to share helpful information for teen parents. For more information, call x8241.

John Walker will perform an oboe recital at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in the FAB Theater. The recital is free and open to the public. More.

The Rivers Bend Association for the Education of Young Children will host the 2008 Spring Curriculum Conference from 8:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m. Saturday, April 5, in the SSB. The conference will provide professional development opportunities for early childhood educators. More.

The Music Guest Lecture Series will continue at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, in Room 205/206 of the Student Center. Testicular Cancer Awareness Week is April 1-7. Visit the SCC Student Nurses Organization table from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in the Cafe/Bookstore to learn more about testicular cancer.

Career Services will host the fifth annual Panache That Pays etiquette luncheon from noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the Private Dining Room of the Student Center. Student Support
 

SCC Symphonic Orchestra is looking for new members. The group rehearses from 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday evenings in FAB 117. Musicians between the ages of 16 and older are welcome to play with the orchestra. Students may take the course for college credit or play along for enjoyment. No audition is required, but consistent attendance at rehearsals is strongly encouraged. For more information, contact Mary Sweetin at x8254.

Registration for summer credit classes will continue throughout April. Registration takes place from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Fridays in ADM 1113. Classes begin June 2.

The Assessment Center (SC 133) will be open from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 5.

The last day to drop classes and receive a W is Friday, April 4.

A free Returning Learners Workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, April 7-9, in the Private Dining Room of the Student Center. For additional information, contact Teresa Drury at x8246.

John Walker was recently notified of having won a Fulbright grant and will be spending the next two summers in Ecuador researching, performing, and teaching.

Jon Bowman had a paper accepted for a May central regional meeting of the Society for Christian Philosophers.  The conference theme is Engaging Eastern Thought.

Pat Porterfield was recognized at a March 12 reception at the Missouri Governor’s mansion honoring Missouri women who are making history.  Porterfield was among 300 nominees invited by First Lady Melanie Blunt to attend the lunch.  

Faculty members Michael Fuszner, Heather Rodgers, and Travis Thompson will begin two-year terms this fall as members of TEAMvision.

Callie Daniels and Dr. Stephanie Tolson were among 50 St. Charles County women recognized by the Zonta Club of St. Charles on March 7 in honor of International Women's Day and Zonta Yellow Rose Day.
