College Update
 

The college is closed Friday-Sunday, March 21-23, for the Spring Holiday.

First eight-week classes (08/SP1) end Monday, March 24. Second eight-week classes (08/SP2) begin Tuesday, March 25.

Grades for first eight-week classes (SP1/08) are due Thursday, March 27.

 
Campus Events
 

Can’t remember that meeting or event? Search the online SCC Calendar. Events are categorized under various headings in a drop-down menu; just choose the one that interests you.

The SCC Multimedia Invitational Art Exhibition will be held through April 20 in the FAB Gallery. The gallery is open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays. An opening reception will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 24. The Cougars will play at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, vs. Mineral Area College at SCC. The softball Cougars will play at home at 2 p.m. Monday, March 24, vs. SLCC Forest Park and at 3 p.m. Friday, March 28, vs. Three Rivers.

Student music recitals will be performed at noon Wednesday, March 26, in FAB 120.

The Young People's Theatre season continues with the musical Cats at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, March 28-29 and April 4-5, and at 2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, March 29-30 and April 5-6, in the FAB Theater. For more information, contact Brisby Andrews at x8310.

The History Theatre and The Social Science Society will host a trivia night at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 29, in the SSB Auditorium. The cost for the event is $80 per table, with a maximum of eight players on a team. Concessions will be sold, and participants can also bring their own snacks. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. You can reserve a table via e-mail or by calling 636-627-1242. More.

Career Services will host the fifth annual Panache That Pays etiquette luncheon from noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the Private Dining Room of the Student Center. Tickets are $10 for faculty and staff and $5 for students. For more information or to reserve a seat, contact Martha Toebben at x8243.

Student Support
 

Spring break is March 17-22. No credit classes will be held.

All fees are due by 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20, for second eight-week (SP2/08) classes.

The midterm roster opens for late-start (08/SP3) classes on Thursday, March 20.

Summer semester registration will be held from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. on March 24-27, and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. March 28, for current students only.

The Pinning Ceremony for the Practical Nursing Class of 2008 will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, in the College Center. There are 27 students in the graduating class.

 
Employee Kudos
 

The SCC Marketing and Communications Department received a silver national Paragon Award in the newsletter category for the student newsletter, Chuck. The award was presented last week at the annual conference of the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations.
